Game Overview

Top Gear on SNES is one of those racing games that feels simple at first—pick one of four cars (each handles a bit differently, so good luck choosing) and tear through tracks from Brazil to Japan. But don’t let the bright colors fool you; the AI drivers are sneaky fast, and those tight corners come at you quick.

The longer tracks have pit stops where you can top up your fuel, which sounds straightforward until you’re desperately swerving into one with 5% left. And yeah, the obstacles—random iron plates, piles of rocks—feel like they were placed by someone with a grudge against racers. Finish in the top five, or it’s game over, so no pressure.

Best part? The split-screen multiplayer turns it into a proper couch rivalry. Just don’t blame me when you realize you’ve been yelling at your friend for an hour. The password system’s a nice touch too, letting you bail mid-race and pick it up later. Classic ‘90s racing with just enough bite to keep you hooked.
