Game Overview

Ever tried holding off barbarians with a handful of pixelated Romans? Walls of Rome is one of those MS-DOS games that looks simple until you realize how badly you’re losing. You start with a basic wall, a few troops, and that creeping panic as the first wave of enemies appears on the horizon.

Gold trickles in slowly, so every choice hurts—upgrade your gates now, or gamble on training more archers? The game doesn’t explain much, which means you’ll fail spectacularly a few times before figuring out that, yes, you really do need those ballistae. The graphics are pure ‘90s clunk, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about watching tiny sprites collapse under your defenses (or, more often, overrun them).

If you miss the days when strategy games kicked your teeth in without apology, this one’s a time capsule. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you about the 2 a.m. rage-quits.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
