Game Overview

World Karate Championship came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Epyx. It was one of those early fighting games you'd load up on a beige box PC, a simple two-player experience that felt right at home alongside other pixelated sports titles of the era.

You control a karate fighter on a single screen, trading kicks and punches with an opponent. The main goal is to deplete the other player's health bar or score points by landing clean hits. Movement is stiff, almost slidey, and jumps have a strange, floaty weight to them. Matches are fast and a little unpredictable, with basic moves like high and low attacks defining the limited but tense back-and-forth. It feels clunky by today's standards, but there's a raw, immediate satisfaction in timing a jump kick just right.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
