Game Overview

Remember that era when every superhero game was a side-scrolling brawler? X-Men 2: Mutant Apocalypse on SNES was one of the good ones—no stiff controls or awkward hitboxes here. You pick from five mutants (I always went with Wolverine first, obviously) and just wreck your way through Sentinel factories and weird sci-fi bases.

What’s cool is how different each character feels. Cyclops plays like a walking laser cannon, Storm floats around zapping people, and Psylocke’s this weird mix of ninja and psychic. The pixel art still pops—Wolverine’s healing factor actually shows his wounds closing up mid-fight. And yeah, the difficulty’s very ’90s: you’ll die a lot until you memorize where those cheap enemy spawns happen.

It’s short, but replaying with each X-Man changes the whole vibe. Also, that final boss theme slaps harder than Colossus throwing Juggernaut.
