Play A.G.E.: Advanced Galactic Empire Online

Hop in your ship, pick a direction, and go—trade goods, hunt bounties, or just see how far the surprisingly smooth MS-DOS engine lets you push into the starfield. Pirates and clunky 1993 dialogue give the universe some rough-around-the-edges charm.

Game Overview

A.G.E.: Advanced Galactic Empire came out in 1991 from Coktel Vision, one of those deep space sims that felt ambitious for its time on MS-DOS. You start with a basic ship and a wide open galaxy, no hand holding, just the freedom to make your own way among the stars. The graphics were functional, the interface a product of its era, but it offered a sense of scale that pulled you in.

You control a lone pilot managing a ship, trading commodities between systems, taking on missions, and engaging in tactical combat against pirates or rival factions. The main goal is to build your reputation and wealth, upgrading your vessel to survive farther into hostile territory. Key mechanics include navigating sector by sector, managing your ship's energy and resources, and making strategic choices in turn based battles. The pacing is deliberate, the learning curve noticeable, and mistakes can be costly. It feels like carving a small place for yourself in a vast, indifferent universe.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
