I picked up Adventures of Kid Kleets on the Super Nintendo back in 1994, a game published by Ocean Software. It was one of those releases that didn't get a ton of attention, but it had a certain charm that stood out among the platformers of the era. The game had a very distinct, almost surreal sports theme that felt different from anything else on the system at the time.

You control Kid Kleets, a young athlete who runs, jumps, and kicks his way through a series of obstacle course-like levels. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage, navigating past enemies and environmental hazards. Signature mechanics include performing spin jumps off of objects like goalposts to gain extra height, and kicking footballs at enemies to defeat them or trigger switches. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise timing needed for many jumps and attacks. Playing it feels like navigating a chaotic, energetic dream where the rules of physics are just a little bit off.
