Game Overview

Adventures of Yogi Bear came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Blue Turtle. It was one of those many licensed platformers that filled the shelves back then, based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon. You don't hear much about it now, but it had a certain Saturday morning cartoon energy that was pretty common for the era.

You control Yogi Bear, and your main goal is to rescue Boo Boo and Ranger Smith by collecting a set of picnic baskets scattered across Jellystone Park. The gameplay involves a lot of bouncing; you jump on enemies and use them as platforms, and you can also grab and throw certain items. The levels are screen by screen, so you move from one section to the next, dealing with obstacles like weasels, bees, and tricky jumps. The controls feel a bit loose and the pacing is uneven, with some frustrating enemy placements. It feels like a straightforward, slightly clunky effort to capture the spirit of the show in a game.
