Game Overview

African Adventure was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that bundled several titles from the early PC gaming era. It was developed by a small team whose name isn't widely remembered today, but the game fits right in with the kind of exploratory platformers that were common on the system. You won't find elaborate cutscenes or orchestral scores here; it's a straightforward, sprite-based adventure that relies on clever level design and player persistence.

You control an explorer navigating a series of single-screen environments, each filled with animals like hippos and lions that must be avoided or outsmarted. The main goal is to collect items scattered across the landscape while solving environmental puzzles to progress. Movement is screen by screen, with hazards resetting their positions each time you enter a new area, which demands careful observation and timing. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving due to limited lives and precise jumps. Playing it feels like a test of patience and pattern recognition, where every small victory comes from learning through repetition.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
