Play Alone in the Dark Online
You creep through a creaky mansion with tank controls, listening for growls in the dark—those blocky 1992 monsters still get under your skin.

If you've ever played a survival horror game, you owe it to yourself to check out Alone in the Dark—the granddaddy of them all. Yeah, the MS-DOS version looks rough now, but back in '92, those janky polygonal monsters creeping through pre-rendered mansion halls were terrifying. The atmosphere still holds up, too—you’re just some poor sap trapped in a haunted house full of Lovecraftian nonsense, fumbling with clunky controls while something growls in the next room.
Fun fact: It actually holds a Guinness World Record for being the first 3D survival horror game. The 3DO and Mac ports tried to smooth things out, but honestly, the original’s weird charm is part of the appeal. Just don’t expect jump scares—this is slow, creeping dread where every door might hide something that’ll make you regret turning the doorknob. If you can handle the old-school jank, it’s a fascinating slice of horror history.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
