Play Assault Rigs Online

Pilot a clunky hover-tank through blocky arenas, drifting around corners to snag gems while dodging wild weapons like enemy-scrambling viruses. Weirdly addictive once you get the hang of its janky charm.

Game Overview

Assault Rigs came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Psygnosis. It was a product of its time, sitting comfortably among other mid-90s titles that experimented with 3D environments and vehicle combat, without the polish or expectations of later generations.

You control a heavily armed hovercraft, navigating through maze-like arenas to collect energy crystals while fending off enemy rigs. The main objective is to gather all required crystals and reach the exit before your energy depletes or opponents overwhelm you. Signature mechanics include picking up various power-ups, such as homing missiles and shield boosts, and using environmental hazards to your advantage. The pacing is methodical, often tense, as you balance aggressive hunting with cautious survival. It feels like a strategic, slightly clumsy dance where every successful pickup or narrow escape brings a genuine sense of relief.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
