Game Overview

Ever boot up an old MS-DOS game and immediately get hit with that wave of nostalgia? Assault Trooper is one of those—no tutorials, no hand-holding, just you, a gun, and a screen full of enemies that want you dead. The first time I played, I died in about 10 seconds because I didn’t realize how fast those pixel bullets move. But that’s the fun of it.

You’re basically a one-person army, weaving through enemy fire while grabbing whatever power-ups you can find. The controls are stupidly simple (arrow keys and spacebar, because of course), but the chaos ramps up fast. One minute you’re picking off slow-moving grunts, the next you’re dodging a hail of shots from three directions at once. It’s got that perfect balance of "just one more try" frustration and satisfaction when you finally clear a level.

If you miss the days when games just threw you into the action without a 20-minute cutscene, this is pure, unfiltered DOS-era joy. The soundtrack’s all crunchy synth beats, the explosions are gloriously chunky, and yeah, you’ll probably curse at the screen a few times. But in a good way.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
