Game Overview

I picked up Astérix & Obélix Bash Them All! on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. It was developed by Bit Managers and published by Infogrames, and it felt right at home among the platform's many side-scrolling action games. The cartoony art style and familiar characters made it stand out, even if the genre was already well represented on the handheld.

You control either Astérix or Obélix, switching between them to use their unique strengths; Astérix is quick and uses his sword, while Obélix swings menhirs and hits harder. The goal is to fight through waves of Roman soldiers across various levels, smashing crates for health and power-ups along the way. The game progresses screen by screen, clearing enemies before moving forward, and it occasionally mixes things up with simple puzzles or boss fights. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty feels fair, never too punishing but engaging enough to hold your attention. It's straightforward, satisfying fun that captures the spirit of the comics.
