Asterix (EU) on NES is a side-scrolling platformer that feels like playing through one of the comic books. You start in the Gaulish village, then jump and punch your way through Roman camps, forests, and even a pirate ship—all while collecting those little golden laurel wreaths.

The controls are stiff by modern standards, but there's something satisfying about knocking out legionnaires with a single punch. The levels get weirdly creative too—one minute you're dodging boars in the woods, the next you're fighting gladiators in Rome.

It nails the comic's humor though. Asterix does this little victory dance whenever you beat a level, and the sprites look like they're straight out of a panel. Just don't expect the magic potion to make the game easy—those bottomless pits don't care how invincible you are.
