Play Battletoads (World) Online

Battletoads starts as a goofy beat 'em up until it throws you into speeder bike chases and absurd obstacle courses—your mutant fists keep growing when you punch, which is the only fair thing about this unfair game.

Game Overview

Battletoads on the Genesis is that weird, brutally hard beat 'em up where you play as mutant toads punching robots and riding speeder bikes through impossible obstacle courses. The Dark Queen kidnapped your friends (because of course she did), so you’re basically just smashing through waves of enemies with oversized cartoon fists. It starts simple—jump kicks, throwing guys into the screen—but then suddenly you’re rappelling down a pit or dodging instant-death walls in that infamous turbo tunnel level.

Fun fact: the game tricks you into thinking it’s just another Double Dragon clone at first, then hits you with random racing sections, platforming, and even a surfing level. The art style’s all exaggerated 90s attitude, with the toads’ limbs swelling up like balloons when they land a hit. It’s ridiculous, unfair at times, and somehow still weirdly charming. Just don’t throw your controller when the game asks you to make pixel-perfect jumps for the tenth time.
