Play Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure Online

Hop in a phone booth with Bill or Ted, chase down confused historical figures, and try not to get wrecked by Billy the Kid’s trigger finger—just don’t expect the graphics to help much.

Game Overview

I remember playing Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure on MS-DOS back in the day. It came out in 1990 from Capstone Software, and it was one of those licensed games that tried to capture the movie’s goofy charm. The graphics were typical for the era, blocky and colorful, but it had a certain personality that made it stand out among other platformers and adventure titles on PC at the time.

You control either Bill or Ted, moving screen by screen through different time periods to find historical figures like Socrates or Napoleon. The main goal is to gather them all and bring them back to your high school for a presentation. You explore, avoid enemies like Billy the Kid or medieval guards, and use items you find along the way. The pacing is a bit slow, and some parts can be frustrating due to awkward controls or unclear objectives. Still, figuring out where to go next and seeing all the historical characters interact gives the game a silly, lighthearted feel.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
