Play Bones - The Game of the Haunted Mansion Online

You creep through a janky pixel mansion, dodging cheesy ghosts and solving puzzles that somehow make sense—like bribing a specter with a rubber chicken. It’s dumb in the best way.

Game Overview

Bones was a 1990 MS-DOS release from developer/publisher Gremlin Graphics, a title that fit right in with the era's appetite for quirky, low-budget adventures. It didn't try to compete with the graphical powerhouses of the time; instead, it offered a simple, spooky premise wrapped in the charm of EGA graphics and a straightforward point-and-click interface.

You control a little ghost hunter armed with a vacuum, exploring the mansion room by room to clear out spectral pests. The main goal is to suck up all the ghosts on each screen before moving on, but they float in specific patterns and require careful timing to capture. You also collect odd items, like a rubber chicken or a bone, to solve simple puzzles or distract certain haunts. The pacing is methodical, almost puzzle-like, as you learn each ghost's movement and the limited uses of your tools. It feels like a quiet, slightly silly chess match against the afterlife.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
