I picked up Cars for the Game Boy Advance back in 2006, a time when licensed games were everywhere and you never quite knew what you were getting. This one was developed by LSP, and it's very much a product of that era, built around the world of the Pixar film without trying to reinvent the wheel. It's a simple, straightforward adaptation that doesn't pretend to be anything more.

You control Lightning McQueen, driving through various courses based on locations from the movie. The main goal is to win races against other cars, but there are also minigames that break up the action, like tire-changing challenges or awkward attempts at stunt driving. The controls are a bit loose, making drifting feel slippery rather than precise, and some of the minigames are more frustrating than fun. It's not a particularly difficult game, but it can feel repetitive after a while. Playing it feels like a quick, sometimes clumsy trip down memory lane.
