Game Overview

Clay Fighter is one of those weird, janky SNES gems that somehow works despite itself. The claymation fighters look ridiculous in the best way—like someone mashed up a kid’s play-doh project with a fighting game. You’ve got a snowman who throws his own head, a blob of goo that stretches like taffy, and a wrestler who might actually be made of beef jerky.

It’s not the smoothest fighter out there (some moves feel like they land by accident), but that’s part of the charm. The animations are hilariously stiff, and the sound effects sound like someone smacking wet clay. If you take it too seriously, you’ll hate it, but if you lean into the absurdity, it’s a great time with a friend. Just don’t expect Street Fighter.

Honestly, half the fun is seeing how weird the next character’s design is. I still have no idea what the deal is with that evil pumpkin.
