Communist Mutants From Space is basically Space Invaders with a weirdly specific Cold War twist. You’re stuck at the bottom of the screen with this little cannon, blasting away at waves of descending mutants—some just float down, others drop bombs, and the whole time this creepy "Mother Creature" at the top keeps spawning more of them in eggs. It’s chaotic in the best way.

What makes it fun is the little tweaks—you can turn on a shield if you’re getting wrecked, or activate this weird time warp that slows everything down for a breather. My favorite’s the penetrating fire, though—nothing beats lining up a shot that punches through three mutants at once. The difficulty ramps up fast, and before long, you’re sweating over every shot. It’s simple, but that’s what makes it so easy to lose an hour to it.

Also, the title alone deserves some kind of award for sheer absurdity.
