D. D. Crew came out in 1991 as an arcade game from Sega. It was part of that era when four player beat 'em ups were everywhere, competing for your quarters with titles like Final Fight and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You picked one of four ex-cops trying to clean up a city overrun by a criminal gang called Mad. The cabinet was big, loud, and built for friends to crowd around.

You control one of the crew members, each with slightly different stats, and fight through side scrolling urban stages. Your main objective is to punch and kick your way to the end of each level, defeating the boss. Signature mechanics include picking up weapons like pipes and knives dropped by enemies, performing a screen clearing special attack that costs health, and the ability to grab and throw foes into each other. The pacing is fast and the difficulty is typical for the genre; it gets brutal quickly if you play alone. It feels like a straightforward, satisfying brawler that is best enjoyed with a group.
