Game Overview

Densetsu no Starfy 2 picks up right where the first game left off—Ogura’s back, still salty about losing to our little starfish hero, and this time he’s kidnapped the queen. So Stafy’s gotta swim, jump, and glide (yeah, he gets a cute little flutter move later) across a bunch of colorful worlds to save her.

The levels are these bite-sized underwater playgrounds where you’re mostly hunting for treasure chests, but of course nothing’s ever that simple. Some grumpy sea creature will always block your path until you help them out—maybe smash a few jellyfish or track down their lost whatever. Kyorosuke the clam pops up now and then to drop hints, which is nice because some of the puzzles had me stumped for a bit.

Boss fights are these frantic little duels where you trade blows until someone loses five hearts. Each one has some weird gimmick—like only taking damage when they’re blinking or whatever—so you’ll die a couple times figuring them out. It’s got that classic GBA charm where everything’s bright, floaty, and just the right amount of frustrating.
