Play Die Hard Online
Control John McClane, explore Nakatomi Plaza, rescue hostages, shoot terrorists, and dodge attacks in this action-packed MS-DOS classic from 1996.
I picked up Die Hard for MS-DOS back in the day; it was part of the Classic Games lineup released in 1996 by Probe Entertainment Limited. This was a time when movie tie-ins were common, and this one tried to capture the tension of the film within the technical limits of the platform. It didn't try to be groundbreaking, just a straightforward adaptation that fit right in with other action titles of the era.
You control John McClane, moving him through Nakatomi Plaza's floors to rescue hostages and eliminate terrorists. The game uses a screen by screen exploration system, with each room presenting new enemies and obstacles. Combat involves shooting, throwing grenades, and sometimes just running to avoid overwhelming fire. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can feel punishing due to limited health and aggressive enemy behavior. Navigating the clunky controls while dodging attacks creates a tense, hands-on experience that demands quick decisions and patience.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
