Play Die Hard Arcade Online
Fight through waves of enemies as John McClane, rescue the president's daughter, and use everything around you as a weapon in this 1996 beat 'em up.
Die Hard Arcade came out in 1996, and I first played it through MAME 0.243. It was developed by Sega AM1, and it's a classic example of the kind of beat 'em up that felt right at home in arcades during that era. The game doesn't try to be more than it is, just a straightforward brawler with a clear mission and plenty of action.
You control either John McClane or another agent, moving through a series of connected areas while fighting waves of enemies. The main goal is to rescue the president's daughter, which involves clearing each screen of thugs before moving on. Signature mechanics include picking up and using environmental objects like chairs, fire extinguishers, and even swords against opponents, along with performing special moves by combining button inputs. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike sharply, especially during boss fights that demand pattern recognition and quick reflexes. It feels satisfying to land a heavy combo or toss an enemy across the room with a well-timed throw.
