Game Overview

Digimon World: Dawn is one of those RPGs where you get sucked into raising and evolving your own team of digital monsters. You start as a rookie tamer in the Sunshine district, where Digimon are mysteriously reverting to eggs—and of course, everyone’s blaming the rival Night Crow team from the Dark Moon side. (Typical, right?)

The first thing you’ll do is pick your character’s gender, then dive into recruiting and training Digimon. There are over 350 of them, and figuring out which ones evolve into what is half the fun. Some evolutions are straightforward, others… not so much. I spent way too long trying to get a specific ultimate form, only to realize I’d been feeding my Digimon the wrong stats.

If you know someone with Digimon World: Dusk (the sister game), you can team up to create rare Digimon together. The story’s the same in both, but the available monsters differ—Dawn leans toward the heroic types, while Dusk has the edgier ones. Either way, it’s a solid grind if you love monster-raising RPGs with a bit of mystery thrown in.
