Game Overview
Dissidia 012 is basically the PSP’s flashiest Final Fantasy fan-service brawler, but with way more polish than the first game. You pick heroes or villains from across the series (yeah, even XIII’s Lightning shows up) and duke it out in these wild, aerial-heavy fights where you’re chaining sword slashes, spells, and assists from other characters mid-combo.
The story mode’s got this weird but kinda cool overworld now where you roam between battles instead of just hopping between menus. Dungeons still use the old tile system, but it’s less claustrophobic. And yeah, the assist mechanic’s a game-changer—nothing like having Kuja swoop in to blast someone while you recover.
Grinding for gear and levels is still a thing, but the roster’s massive (I spent way too much time maining Tifa), and the DLC costumes are ridiculous in the best way. Just don’t expect the Prologus bonus character unless you hunt down that side chapter.
It’s chaotic, over-the-top, and exactly what you’d want from a Final Fantasy fighting game.
