Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection on PSP is basically the ultimate way to play this classic if you missed the DS remake. You get the original FFIV with cleaned-up visuals, plus The After Years sequel—which honestly feels like a weird but fun fanfic at times—and a brand-new Interlude chapter that ties them together.
The graphics got a nice bump (though don’t expect modern HD), and there’s some slick CG cutscenes borrowed from the DS version. The After Years even throws in a few PSP-exclusive baddies and a brutal post-game boss fight where you’ll need to juggle three separate parties—good luck with that.
What I love is how much content is crammed in here. Between the main game, the 17(!) episodic After Years tales, and Interlude’s extra story bits, you’re looking at like 60+ hours if you’re a completionist. The rearranged soundtrack’s a nice touch too, especially if you’ve got nostalgia for the SNES original.
Just don’t expect the DS version’s 3D models—this keeps the 2D charm but polishes it up enough to feel fresh.
