Game Overview

Donkey Kong Jr. came out in 1982 as an arcade game from Nintendo. It was the follow-up to the original Donkey Kong, but this time you're playing as the ape's son. It fit right into that era of simple, challenging platformers where you spent a lot of quarters just trying to see what came next.

You control Junior, and your goal is to climb to the top of each stage to rescue your father, who's locked in a cage by Mario. You move screen by screen, grabbing vines and chains to ascend while avoiding enemies like birds and snapping plants. The key mechanics are climbing, jumping between platforms, and sometimes carrying keys to open locks blocking your path. The pacing is fast and the difficulty is steep; one wrong move and you're starting over. It feels tense and a little frantic, but satisfying when you finally make it to the next level.
