Same frantic dodging of barrels and fireballs, but now there are these weirdly satisfying rainbow power-ups that make Mario (or Jumpman, if you’re OG) briefly invincible or super bouncy.

It’s still punishingly hard—don’t let the colors fool you—but the fresh coat of paint makes those inevitable deaths feel a little less brutal. Perfect for when you want that classic Donkey Kong frustration, just with a side of glitter. The soundtrack’s got this remixed 8-bit vibe too, like the original tunes got fed through a kaleidoscope.

Honestly, it’s the kind of thing you’d play at 2 AM when you’re too wired for sleep but not patient enough for the vanilla version. Still can’t beat the third level, though.
