Game Overview

Dragon Warrior Plus is basically the NES classic you remember, but someone finally gave it a much-needed facelift. The slimes look less like blobs of toothpaste now, and the hero’s sprite actually has some detail—small things that make wandering Alefgard way more pleasant.

It’s still the same slow-burn RPG where you’ll spend half your time grinding levels outside Tantagel Castle, but the polished visuals take some of the sting out of the grind. That first time you cross the bridge and get wrecked by a Drakee? Yeah, that still happens. Princess Gwaelin still needs rescuing. And the Dragonlord’s castle is just as annoying to navigate as ever.

If you bounced off the original because of its chunky graphics, this hack makes it way easier to stomach. But fair warning: it’s still an NES RPG at heart. You’ll be mashing the A button through text boxes and carefully budgeting your gold for herbs. Somehow, that’s still weirdly satisfying.
