Game Overview

Estopolis Densetsu (or Lufia: The Legend Returns, if you played the English version) is one of those RPGs that somehow flew under the radar—probably because it never officially left Japan. But if you're into classic turn-based battles and dungeon crawling, it's worth tracking down.

Right from the start, you get that cozy '90s RPG vibe—pixelated towns with chatty NPCs, random encounters, and a hero who's definitely saving the world. The three-party system keeps battles interesting—you're constantly shuffling characters in and out, trying to find the right combo. And yeah, some of the dungeon puzzles will make you stop and think for a minute.

It's not perfect (the encounter rate can be brutal), but there's something charming about how unapologetically old-school it is. Just be ready to either brush up on Japanese or find a translation patch—unless you really like guessing what items do.
