Play European History Online

European History is one of those MS-DOS classic games that came out in the early 1990s, a time when strategy titles were often dense and text heavy. I don’t recall the developer offhand, but it fits right in with the era’s fondness for deep, turn based simulations rather than flashy graphics. You pick a European power and try to guide it through centuries of shifting alliances and economic pressure.

You control everything from tax rates and military recruitment to trade agreements and diplomatic marriages. The main goal is simply to survive and expand your influence without collapsing from debt or invasion. Key mechanics include managing resource stockpiles, negotiating treaties (which the AI often breaks), and moving regiments across a simple map. The pacing is slow, deliberate; one wrong move can unravel decades of progress. It feels like conducting a fragile, endless orchestra where every section has a mind of its own.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
