Famicom Mini 21: Super Mario Bros. 2 is that weird Mario game you probably played as a kid and couldn't quite place—it's got vegetables, throwing enemies instead of stomping them, and a dream world that feels nothing like the Mushroom Kingdom. Turns out it was originally a different game (Doki Doki Panic) before getting Mario characters slapped on it, which explains why everything feels slightly off in the best way.

You pick between Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Peach—Luigi's floaty jump is hilariously broken, by the way—and start yanking turnips out of the ground to chuck at weirdo enemies like Shy Guys and those creepy bird things with masks. The GBA version keeps all the original strangeness intact but makes it look a little cleaner on the small screen. Finding hidden doors in random patches of grass or getting yeeted across the map by those wind things never gets old. It's still one of the most bizarre Mario games ever, and that's why it rules.
