Game Overview

Fire Brigade - The Battle for Kiev 1943 is one of those weird, wonderful MS-DOS games that makes you go, "Wait, they made what about WWII?" Instead of storming beaches or commanding tanks, you're scrambling to put out fires during the Siege of Kiev—and somehow, it's way more stressful than any shooter.

The pixelated flames spread fast, buildings collapse if you're too slow, and there's no tutorial—just you, a hose, and the creeping dread that you might not save everyone. The first time I played, I lost half a block because I kept fumbling the water pressure controls. It's brutal in that classic '90s way where the game doesn't care if you figure it out.

What stuck with me, though, is how weirdly immersive it gets. The distant artillery rumbles in the background, civilians scream for help, and you're just some exhausted firefighter trying not to let the whole city burn down. If you're into obscure historical sims or games that make you sweat over something other than headshots, this one's worth digging up. Just maybe keep a stress ball nearby.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
