Game Overview

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is one of those classic '90s point-and-click adventures that really makes you work for it—no hand-holding here. You play as Gabriel, a struggling writer turned paranormal investigator, digging into a voodoo murder mystery in New Orleans. The game plays out over a series of days, and you’ve gotta solve each day’s puzzles before moving forward. Some are straightforward, others… well, let’s just say I spent way too long trying to figure out how to use a crowbar.

Unlike modern adventures where the cursor changes automatically, you manually pick actions like "LOOK," "ASK," or "PICKUP" from a clunky but charming icon bar. "ASK" puts you in interrogation mode, where you grill characters about topics—some are universal, others only come up after certain clues. And yeah, you’ll need to take notes or use the in-game recorder because details matter. Oh, and those voodoo drum codes? Good luck. You’ll be flipping through your notes trying to match rhythms like some kind of amateur occultist.

The atmosphere is thick with jazz, graveyard fog, and that unmistakable '90s FMV charm. It’s a slow burn, but if you like dense storytelling and puzzles that actually make you think, this one’s a gem. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
