Galaxy Gunners throws you straight into the cockpit of a neon-lit spaceship with about three seconds to figure out the controls before everything starts exploding. It’s one of those arcade shooters where you’re constantly weaving through bullet hell while frantically mashing the fire button—except here, your ship actually has weight to it, so drifting around asteroids feels satisfying instead of floaty.

The first level tricks you into thinking it’s manageable, right up until a screen-filling boss shows up with lasers that carve the playfield into tiny safe zones. I died like six times before realizing you can overcharge your main gun if you hold the shot button long enough (game does not tell you that upfront).

Visually, it’s all CRT-filtered glow effects and chunky pixel explosions that make your ship’s afterburners look like a rave trail. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a space bounty hunter who accidentally picked a fight with an entire armada, this’ll do it.
