Game Overview

Commander Keen 5: Goodbye Galaxy came out in 1991, part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from id Software. It arrived when side-scrolling platformers were common, but few offered the same mix of sci-fi whimsy and tight level design. You play as Billy Blaze, an eight-year-old genius who builds rockets in his backyard and defends the galaxy as Commander Keen.

You control Keen through a series of nonlinear levels, jumping across platforms and shooting enemies with your ray gun. The main goal is to stop the Shikadi masters from stealing Earth's moon, which involves exploring each stage, collecting keycards, and solving environmental puzzles. Signature mechanics include the pogo stick for high jumps, secret areas hidden behind false walls, and occasional vehicle sections. The pacing is brisk, though some later stages demand precise timing and careful resource management. It feels like a challenging but fair adventure, where every new screen offers something clever or surprising.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
