Game Overview

Great Ice Hockey on the Sega Master System is one of those games that feels way more physical than it should—mostly because you’re frantically rolling that Sports Pad trackball like your life depends on it. Want to pass? Roll. Shoot? Roll harder. It’s basically finger cardio disguised as hockey.

You start off picking between Junior or Senior difficulty (I made the mistake of going Senior first and got absolutely wrecked by Canada). The US team’s your default, but you can face off against other countries—though honestly, half the time I was just trying not to send the puck flying into my own net by accident.

It’s chaotic, a little janky, and weirdly satisfying when you finally nail a slapshot. Just don’t blame me if your wrist gets sore.
