Play Halls of Montezuma - A Battle History of the United States Marine Corps Online
You push squads of pixelated Marines across rough terrain, sweating over every decision—ammo low, morale cracking, artillery shaking the screen while you scramble to flank that machine gun nest.

Halls of Montezuma came out in 1987 for MS-DOS, published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was one of those turn-based strategy games from the era that demanded patience and attention to detail, fitting right in with other thoughtful military simulations of the time.
You command U.S. Marine squads through Pacific island battles, moving them across hex grids to capture objectives and eliminate enemy positions. Key mechanics include managing ammunition and morale, calling in off-map artillery support, and positioning units to exploit cover and elevation. The pace is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
