Play High Command - Europe 1939-45 Online

Command entire armies across Europe, sweating over supply lines and watching your grand plans unravel—just like the real generals did. It’s dense, unforgiving, and weirdly satisfying when things actually work.

Game Overview

High Command: Europe 1939-45 was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several older titles for a new audience. The game was developed by Impressions Games and published by Sierra On-Line, placing it among the serious, detail-oriented strategy titles of the early 1990s. It doesn't try to be flashy; it's a straightforward, no-nonsense simulation of theater-level command during World War II, built for players who appreciate depth over spectacle.

You control the armed forces of either the Axis or the Allies, managing production, moving divisions across a map of Europe, and engaging in combat resolved through detailed odds calculations. Your main objective is to achieve historical or alternate victory conditions by capturing key cities and destroying enemy units. Signature mechanics include managing intricate supply lines that dictate unit effectiveness and planning multi-front offensives that require patience and foresight. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty is high, punishing rash decisions with supply shortages and counterattacks. It feels like conducting a vast, unpredictable orchestra where every instrument has a mind of its own.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
