Game Overview

Home Alone on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1991, published by THQ. It was one of those many movie tie-ins from that era, trying to capture the chaos of the film on a 16-bit console. You don't see it talked about much compared to other SNES titles, but it had its own little niche.

You play as Kevin McCallister, and your goal is to survive until your family returns by setting traps for the two burglars, Harry and Marv. The game is split between an overhead map where you run around the house collecting items, and side-view trap-setting screens where you place things like toy cars, tar, and ornaments on the stairs. The pacing is frantic; you're always scrambling to set up before the thieves break in, and if they catch you, it's over. It feels like a messy, stressful race against the clock every single time.
