Game Overview

Home Alone on MS-DOS came out in 1991, part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup from Capstone Software. It was one of those early PC adaptations of a popular movie, a time when translating big screen action to keyboard controls was still a rough but earnest process. You played as Kevin McCallister, left to defend the house from burglars, and it captured that specific era of gaming where simple concepts met unforgiving design.

You control Kevin from a side view, moving room to room to set traps before the Wet Bandits arrive. The main goal is to survive each night by placing items like paint cans, micro machines, and tar; then, during the invasion phase, you must avoid Harry and Marv while luring them into your setups. The game is split into preparation and action phases, with a strict time limit that adds constant pressure. It feels frantic and a little unfair at times, but there's a strange satisfaction in watching a trap finally connect after so many close calls.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
