Smash furniture with reckless abandon, chuck power tools at nosy neighbors, and call it "home repair" while Tim grunts his way through chaos. Pure '90s disaster energy.
Home Improvement on the Super Nintendo came out in 1994, developed by Imagineering. It was one of those many licensed games from that era, based on the popular TV show, and it fit right in with the platform's library of cartoonish, action-oriented titles.
You control Tim Taylor, moving through his home and neighborhood, smashing furniture with a hammer to collect parts and fending off pests and nosy neighbors by throwing power tools. The main goal is to gather enough components to build various projects for a charity fundraiser while avoiding hazards and a strict time limit. The game uses screen by screen exploration, projectile combat with items like wrenches and saw blades, and light puzzle solving for accessing new areas. It moves at a brisk pace and can get fairly difficult with its constant enemy spawns and timer pressure. Playing it feels like orchestrating a controlled demolition where everything is on the verge of falling apart.
