Game Overview

Hoyle Official Book of Games - Volume 2 was basically the reason I ignored homework on our family’s beige DOS machine. That satisfying thwip sound when dealing cards? Perfect. The AI wasn’t some pushover either—I lost way too many pretend poker chips to a pixelated cowboy before figuring out his bluffing patterns.

It had all the classics: Hearts where your own family members would ruthlessly shoot the moon against you, Spades with partners who somehow always forgot bids, and Blackjack that made you swear the dealer had a hidden magnet under the table. The graphics were pure 90s simplicity—no fancy animations, just solid gameplay that somehow made you forget you were staring at a 14-inch CRT.

Still remember the cheat code for unlimited chips (not that I used it… much). If you’ve got DOSBox and a craving for no-nonsense card games, this one holds up weirdly well.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
