Inspector Gadget on the Game Boy Color came out in 2001, developed by Light & Shadow Production. It was one of those many licensed games from the era, trying to capture the spirit of a Saturday morning cartoon on a handheld screen. You play as the bumbling Inspector Gadget, tasked with stopping Dr. Claw and M.A.D. from causing havoc across the city.

You control Gadget through a series of side-scrolling levels, using his various extendable gadgets to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. The main goal is to progress screen by screen, collecting keycards to unlock new areas while avoiding hazards. Signature mechanics include using his extendable arms to grab distant items or attack foes, and activating his helicopter hat to briefly hover over gaps. The pacing is methodical, with some trial and error as you figure out which gadget to use and when. It feels exactly like being the clumsy inspector himself, fumbling toward victory with a mix of frustration and charm.
