Game Overview

I picked up Iron Man on the PSP back in 2008, a game developed by Amaze Entertainment and published by Sega. It was one of those tie-ins that came out around the first movie, and on the PSP, it felt like a solid attempt to bring a console-style action game to a handheld. The system had a few superhero games at the time, but this one stood out because it let you actually fly around as Iron Man, which wasn't something you saw every day on that platform.

You control Tony Stark in the Iron Man suit, flying through levels and engaging in combat against various enemies, from soldiers to advanced tanks and drones. The main goal is to complete mission objectives, often involving destroying targets or defending locations. Signature mechanics include switching between different weapon systems on the fly, like repulsors or missiles, and managing your suit's energy levels for attacks and flight. The pacing is fairly quick, though some sections can feel repetitive, and the difficulty spikes occasionally, especially during boss fights. It feels empowering to unleash a full barrage of weapons, even if the controls take a little practice to master smoothly.
