Game Overview

Interplay released The Lord of the Rings, Vol. II: The Two Towers for MS-DOS in 1992. It was a text and graphic adventure typical of the era, built for players comfortable with parser commands and a slower, more deliberate style of interaction. The game picks up where the first volume left off, continuing the adaptation of Tolkien's work with an emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving.

You control the Fellowship members, inputting text commands to move them through locations, interact with objects, and converse with characters. The main objective is to advance the story by finding key items and navigating environmental challenges. Signature mechanics include a strict verb-noun parser interface, an inventory system for managing found objects, and a combat model that relies on typed attack commands. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty stems largely from logical puzzles and navigation. It feels like patiently unraveling a dense and atmospheric storybook.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
