Game Overview

Jump! Ultimate Stars is basically the best anime crossover brawler you never played on the DS. You start by picking a team of manga all-stars—Goku, Luffy, Naruto, all the usual suspects—and then it throws you into these chaotic 2D battles where you're dashing around tiny arenas, chaining ridiculous combos. The cool part? You build your fighters like a puzzle, slotting in support characters that tweak your moves mid-battle.

At first I just button-mashed with Ichigo from Bleach, but after a few matches, you realize there's actual strategy—like timing assists from smaller character panels or swapping fighters when someone's about to get wrecked. The sprite work still holds up too, with all those exaggerated anime attacks filling the screen. Just don't expect the story to make sense when Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh! is suddenly teaming up with Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

It's the kind of game where you lose an hour just tweaking your dream team before even fighting anyone.
