Game Overview

JumpStart Dino Adventure is one of those weirdly charming edutainment games from the Game Boy Color era. You play as Franky, a time-traveling dog (because why not?) who has to rescue stolen pterodactyl eggs through five mini-games. It’s educational, but in that sneaky way where you don’t realize you’re learning until you’ve already memorized the alphabet sequence from racing dinosaurs.

The mini-games are simple but varied—you’ll match shapes while flying on a pterodactyl, play memory with dino cards, and even toss fruit across a river to hungry dinosaurs (who apparently love arithmetic). The whack-a-mole clone where you bonk dinosaurs on the head is weirdly satisfying, though the controls can be a little stiff. And yeah, there’s a password system, because saving your progress back then meant scribbling down a 12-character code.

It’s definitely aimed at kids, but there’s a nostalgic charm to it if you grew up with these kinds of games. Just don’t expect deep gameplay—it’s more about the goofy dinosaur antics.
