Play Jungledyret Hugo Online

You play as that little Danish jungle critter dodging power lines and alley cats across rooftops, with just your jumps and some fruit to keep you going. It’s janky in that old-school way, but landing a perfect stomp on an enemy never gets old.

Game Overview

Jungledyret Hugo came out in 1995 for MS-DOS, developed by Per Holst Film A/S. It was part of that wave of European platformers that tried to bring cartoon characters into interactive form, and it stood out with its distinct visual style and source material. The game didn't have the polish of some bigger studio releases, but it had a quirky charm that made it memorable for those who played it back then.

You control Hugo, a small, agile creature, as he moves through levels set in urban and natural environments. The main goal is to rescue his family from the villainous witch, Scylla, by navigating platform challenges, avoiding enemies, and collecting items like fruit and diamonds. Key mechanics include precise jumping across gaps, using temporary power-ups like invincibility, and occasionally riding mine carts for fast-paced sections. The game can be quite difficult, with some unforgiving enemy placements and timing-based obstacles, but the satisfaction of clearing a tricky screen keeps you going. It feels like a brisk, challenging adventure that rewards persistence.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
