Game Overview

Jurassic War came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by CDV Software GmbH. It was one of those late-era DOS titles that tried to blend strategy with real-time action, a mix that felt both ambitious and a little rough around the edges. The game drops you into a prehistoric world where rival tribes and dinosaurs clash, and it doesn't waste time on lengthy tutorials or hand-holding.

You control a tribe of primitive warriors, directing them to gather resources, build structures, and train units for combat. The main goal is to conquer rival tribes and survive the constant dinosaur threats. Key mechanics include managing your shaman's special abilities, which can turn the tide in battle, and dealing with aggressive dinosaurs that roam the map and attack without warning. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when a well-trained unit falls to a surprise attack. It feels chaotic and unpredictable, like you're always one misstep away from disaster.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
